At SW Art Studio, our Competition Program focuses on helping students develop original ideas, strong artistic foundations, and meaningful visual storytelling through national and international art competitions.
This spring, students participated in several professional competitions including the America 250 Bookmark Contest, ADRA International Children’s Art Contest, and Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest.
Every artwork was developed through individual brainstorming, composition planning, refinement, and one-on-one guidance throughout the creative process.
America 250 Bookmark Contest
This spring, SW Art Studio students participated in the America 250 Bookmark Contest, a national competition celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Students explored themes including American history, freedom, innovation, culture, and national identity through original bookmark compositions. Despite the small format, each artwork required strong composition, storytelling, and visual balance.
From historical figures and national landmarks to aerospace exploration and symbolic imagery, every student developed a unique interpretation of the theme.

Bow Seat Ocean Awareness & ADRA International Children’s Art Contest
For the Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest and ADRA International Children’s Art Contest, students explored themes including environmental awareness, peace, compassion, and global connection through original visual storytelling.
Students created artworks inspired by marine life, human relationships, multicultural communities, and the connection between people and nature. Each piece reflected an individual interpretation of the competition themes while developing stronger composition, color, and narrative expression.

We are incredibly proud of every student who participated this season.
Competition artwork is a long process that requires patience, observation, revision, and creative thinking. Watching students slowly turn their ideas into finished artwork is always one of the most meaningful parts of teaching.
Thank you to all of our students and families for your continued trust and support!
